Preventative Medicine & Wellness Exams
We are equip with canine, feline, ferret and rabbit vaccines, as well as dewormer, and flea and tick treatments for a variety of species.
Regular checkups and wellness exams are the best way to make sure your pet stays as healthy as possible. We want to know of concerns (if any) you have with your pet, any current medical conditions that he or she may have, as well as any medications or supplements you are currently giving. We will also learn about your pet’s lifestyle, including nutrition and behaviour. We then perform a complete physical exam to conclude the health profile for your pet. We are able to identify any medical problems or other issues that may negatively impact your pet’s quality of life during this examination.
By seeing your pet on a regular basis and building a relationship with them, it allows us to better evaluate if your pet’s health is changing over time.
These regular visits also give you the opportunity to get to know us. It is important to us that we are meeting your expectations as your “other” family doctor! We encourage you to ask questions so that you become an important partner in your pet’s care.
Radiology
With our in house machine we are able to offer digital radiology, and can perform digital dental radiographs in hospital as well.
When we need to look beneath the skin to determine the severity of an injury or illness, we use digital imaging techniques to make a more accurate diagnosis and determine the severity of your pet’s injury or illness in a non-invasive way.
Having digital radiology on site allows us to quickly view radiographs, and if needed, send them to a certified radiologist for a consultation with the click of a button.
Surgery
Whether your pet needs to be spayed or neutered, they need a lump removed, or have a more serious condition, we have all the tools we need to provide routine surgeries in our clinic.
We have extensive patient monitoring equipment, allowing us to monitor your pet’s vitals, such as blood pressure, oxygenation level, respiratory and pulse rates, and temperature.
Our registered veterinary technicians have attended certified schooling, passed national examinations, and are continually attending educational seminars in order to keep their abilities and knowledge up to date. They are highly skilled and administer all medications and anesthetics, with direction from our veterinarians.
If your pet is in need more advanced care, we may refer you to a Board Certified Surgeon for the best care available.
Dentistry
According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of dental disease by age three.
Annual wellness examinations are a great time to assess your pet’s teeth and discuss their overall oral health.
The best thing you can do at home is to brush your pet’s teeth daily. Starting at an early age and using pet appropriate products will be a great start at ensuring your pet maintains good oral health. We know how difficult this can be, especially if you adopt an older pet, but we are here to help offer tips and tricks for keeping their mouths healthy.
Even with diligent dental care at home, odds are your pet will likely need regular dental cleanings throughout their lifetime. Give us a call today to learn more about our dental care services.
We offer digital dental radiology in house, or referral to West Coast Veterinary Dental Specialists for advanced dental procedures.
